Tramp does not take anything from you. The player stays on your computer. Nothing you play, open, or change is sent to us.
The player
Tramp is a local desktop music player. It plays audio files that are already on your computer.
Tramp has no network features of its own. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no update check, no account system, and no sign-in. The only thing that leaves the program is a link: choosing the website menu item asks your browser to open tramp.music.
Tramp plays what you point it at. If you open a file on a network drive, or a playlist entry naming a remote address, your computer makes that connection to reach the audio. We are not told about it and receive nothing from it.
Tramp has no user accounts. It does not collect names, email addresses, or contact details.
Nothing you do in Tramp is transmitted to Proxima Magnifica or to anyone else.
What stays on your machine
Tramp keeps a few small files on your own device so it can remember how you left things. They hold:
- Your preferences — window layout and size, the equaliser curve, the skin you chose, and the switches in Settings.
- The paths of the files and playlists you opened, the names you gave saved playlists, and the details read out of those files: title, artist, album, year, and length.
- Where you were when you closed the app, so it can pick the track back up, and a running count of tracks played.
On Windows those files sit in %APPDATA%\Proxima Magnifica\Tramp. On Linux they sit in ~/.local/share/com.proximamagnifica.tramp.
That data never leaves your machine. We do not see it. We do not keep a copy. It is as private as the rest of the files in that folder on your computer.
Who sees it
Nobody. The app does not send your information to Proxima Magnifica, to partners, to advertisers, or to anyone else.
Your control
This data is yours. It sits on your machine as plain text you can read. Open that folder, inspect it, or delete it whenever you like. Uninstalling Tramp removes the program; the folder stays until you delete it yourself.
Because none of it reaches us, we have no copy to access, correct, export, or delete on request. There is no form to fill in. We do not hold your data.
This website
This site is separate from the player. It is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes ordinary web request data — such as your IP address and user agent — to serve the pages.
This site does not set cookies. It does not run analytics.
Choosing a download redirects that request to GitHub, where the install files are published. GitHub then receives the request under its own privacy policy. The download shortcut looks at the user agent so it can hand you the file for your machine.
If this changes
If Tramp's behaviour ever changes — if it starts talking to a network, collecting anything, or sending anything — this policy will be updated.
